Carpooling
With gas and living prices rising seemingly every day you may be looking for ways to save money any way you can. Carpooling can be one of those ways and cannot only benefit yourself but also the world as a whole.
What is Carpooling?
Carpooling is simple; everyone has places to go, in some cases people are actually going to the same places, carpooling is getting people together to all use the same transportation and get some cars off the road. Whether it’s to work, a party or down to the store carpooling can be a great way for people to save money and help cut down on greenhouse gas emissions.
Carpooling has been proven to help the environment by simple math; reducing the number of cars on the road reduces the amount of pollution. In some countries carpooling has become widely encouraged by the government and in some cases even required! Here in the US many states have implemented carpool lanes which are usually reduced in traffic and encourage commuters to travel with a buddy or two when going to work or wherever.
Why Should I Carpool?
1. Saves money for all parties involved.
2. Cuts down on greenhouse gas emissions and helps curb global warming.
3. You get to take advantage of carpool lanes and parking spaces that make your commute less stressful.
How Can I Carpool?
The great thing about carpooling is it’s actually very easy. Talk to your coworkers and see if any of them live close to you and would be interested in carpooling to work together. When you know your friends and yourself will be going to the same place, offer up the idea of carpooling instead of driving separately. If you do find people that are willing to carpool, try to set a schedule in which sometimes you will drive and sometimes they will drive.
You can also look for carpooling services in your city or state. Many services exist now that allow people to connect via phone, email, or social networking and set up carpooling with people you may not know.
